- - - BANG! - - -
Bang!’ shows the Liverpool school of Art and Design Degree Show for what it is and should be - a celebration. it’s built up to be the “culmination of 3 years work“ and yet it feels like a regular exhibition; which the Degree Show is anything but a regular exhibition, its the students moment, the students exhibition, hell for some people it’s their only exhibition.
So if it’s supposed to be a celebration, why has it been portrayed as the end of the world, the beginning of the digital age or simply a moment in time? Why have ex-students felt underwhelmed by the design that has been chosen to promote and represent the show? If it’s a positive moment I’ll remember in the years to come, why wouldn’t I want it to look like a celebration?.
I’ve heard students say that they would prefer to go to the Degree Show rather than their own graduation, because it’s their moment, not a bragging right for their parents to claim credit for raising a university graduate - so why not make their moment shine as brightly as possible, and let them explode onto the scene with ‘bang!’.
